Laser Nail Treatment

Nail Fungus

Onychomycosis, more commonly known as nail fungus, is an infection of the nail caused by microscopic organisms called fungi. The fungi do not require light to survive and thrive in warm, moist environments. The fungi spread deep into the nail and as a result, the nail often thickens, becomes brittle, turns brown or yellow, and sometimes separates from the nail bed. Approximately 6-8% of adults suffer from nail fungus. The condition can be painful, embarrassing, and hard to treat.

Who is most at risk for a nail fungal infection?

Men are more susceptible than women, and the elderly are more vulnerable than the young. Diabetics, AIDS patients, people with poor blood circulation or a family history of fungal infections, and those with a previous injury to the nail or skin are most at risk for an infection.

How can I prevent an infection?

Since fungi thrive in moist environments, do not walk barefoot in damp places such as pools, gyms and showers. Be sure to change your socks often, keep your feet dry, and wear shoes that protect your nails from injury.

Is there a simple and safe treatment available that does not involve the use of medications?

Yes, we are pleased to announce that we now offer a new, state-of-the-art procedure called laser nail treatment.

Laser Nail Treatment

Laser nail treatment is a fast and painless alternative to medication. Laser nail treatment was developed by leading scientists and medical professionals over the course of 20 years. The laser works by passing a light through the toenail to kill the fungus that lives below the nail without causing damage to the nail or surrounding tissues. Within approximately 9-12 months, the nail grows out and you are left with a clearer and healthier nail! Topical ointments, creams, and risky oral treatments require a great deal of patient involvement over time. With our new treatment, it’s all done in a matter of minutes at one of our offices.

Is the laser nail treatment safe?

Yes, the treatment is 100% safe, FDA approved, requires no anesthesia, and has no dangerous side effects—you can even get a pedicure or a manicure immediately following your treatment!

What can I expect during the treatment process?

The office visit takes less than 30 minutes to complete and usually only requires one treatment. Patients can expect to experience little to no pain during the process and since no anesthesia is involved, patients can return to their daily activities immediately following the procedure.

What is the success rate?

A: Up to 90% of patients report having clearer and healthier nails 9-12 months after the treatment.
